2 bits of news relating to the new kitchen. Yes that's right, the new kitchen - and large verandah.
After years of frustration, borne with great patience, we finally had the plans passed and started building ... only to realise the builder was most unsuitable.
So we started again: great team now – Bonginkosi is the Project Manager, employing and paying local labour, taking delivery of materials and keeping them safe. And builder, plumber, electrician, painter all on board, local suppliers nearly all assisting with costs. We are now making great strides building the kitchen and verandah, and simultaneously are upgrading the centre especially the plumbing and painting.
Furthermore, Lula Isandla has an uncle in the furniture business – Jeff Shulman has offered to make tables and benches for the verandah of our new dining area. There is a minor glitch, he is in Johannesburg and we are here in Mpophomeni. We can only take up his services if we can cost effectively transport the furniture. Does anyone have a connection in the furniture moving business who could assist us in transporting these, or is able and willing to sponsor the transport? Let us know as soon as you can.
In the meantime check out the Facebook page where we'll (soon) be posting some pics of the kitchen.
Kind regards, Claire
